Online Romance - Hey Abraham lyrics

Hey Abraham, do you remember when I'd count you all out, put Scotch tape on the ends, then stack you in piles which trickled up in tiny triangles? I had a whole pile of penny rolls which I collected in Georgia, a state so lacking in tolls. You claimed 'no contest' between the Go-Gos and the Bangles. Then one day she checked out the rates; I packed it all up and left across the States. When I was assembling all my things, those coins had to come with us. I'd had little time to count the rest. I'd covered a quarter of them at best but I figured I'd deal with that in the Pacific Time Zone. Sadly, we inadvertently smashed that penny jar which rode in the trunk of her grandmother's car, and it wasn't 'til we arrived that I got a replacement. I thought of nothing through Devil's Pass, New Mexico, but that trunk full of glass, with all of the coins that had fallen away unseen quietly rambling like tambourines. And she said, 'That's so neurotic...no, that's just impatience,' but I was left with the forethought of when I'd delicately pick up the shards. Those pennies are gone, they've long been spent, lost in the couch or fallen through the vent. And it's funny, that sure makes a real good point about savings: save twenty-three rolls for twenty-three years; that's $264.50 and some tears for all of the hours you gathered just for the anticlimax of the deposit. I don't know what you're living for I don't even know you ever since the day I spent you on a little tiny piece of the first month's rent.
