The bass for the whole song can be played like this.

E-----------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------
G---------------------------------------
D-----------------------------------
A----------------------------------------
E-----0-00-7-77-555-333-777-222-0000---
THIS SOUNDS PERFECT with each verse.

Intro: E-A-G-B-F#-E x2 try to get the strummin right. It helps 2 listen 2 the song.

Verseone
E E A G
My girl, my girl, don't lie to me,
          B Fsharp E
tell me where did you sleep last night.
E E A G
In the palms, in the palms, where the sun don't ever shine
         B F# E
I would shiver the whole night through.

Verse 2
My girl, my girl, where will you go,
I am going where the cold wind blows.
In the pines, in the pines, where the sun don't ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through.

Now play the verse but no vocals.

Verse 3
E E A G B F# E
Her hus-band was a hardworking man, just about a mile from here,
E E A G B F# E
His head was found in a drivin wheel, but his body never was found.

Verse 1 (again)this is played louder
Verse 2 is then played really quietly

Then Kurt plays verse 1 and 2 REALLY loud. He screams them but you might want to just play as loud as you can.

Then it ends on the verse progression a couple of times.

This is a great song but I just want to say that it was originally an old leadbelly blues song (ie the lyrics are not originally by the Meatpuppets)
