The more you’re protecting yourself
the more eager and anxious I’m becoming
The closer, the closer we get
the more we are drifting apart

This is sort of what I did expect
I’ve been trying to hide it far back in my head
there is no more left to say
and what we had before is never coming back

but oh, I’ve been asking myself
if we have really taken this as far as we can
and yes, I’ve been taking you for granted
but I know you did too
you did too.

How can we find a way
to make it, to make us feel like we are whole
it would mean the world to me
if I could get to see you smiling back at me
