Mary's coming up on 2 months
She took off after I spent the rent
But I just bought a little to help get me through and said
We don't need all the bills
Mary just hit her 5th month
She moved back into our bed
She doesn't talk much but she whispers a lot and
Mostly just cries in her sleep

She lifts almost weightless
And I kiss her traffic light eyes
I choose to stay silent
As she's a curious girl

Mary's passing her 6th month
Some days she can't get out of bed
The money's cut up in a bag by her nightstand
I hope for the lottery soon
Mary's right around 8 months
She started getting up around three
I stopped asking questions about the smell of tequila
Sometimes it's better not to know

I hadn't seen her for a while
I don't get to see her too much since she took off
And left me again by myself
Now I walk at her heels with my hands in my pockets
I take her flowers on fridays and cry through the weekend
