Here I Am is the third studio album by R&B Diva Kelly Rowland, released through Universal Motown from July 22, 2011. The album is predominately a R&B and pop music album with subtle influences of dance music. It follows Rowland’s assertion that “no one puts her in a box” and common themes include lyrics about womanhood and sexual intimacy.
“Here I Am” is Rowland’s first album since parting ways with Matthew Knowles - as her manager - and leaving long time label Columbia Records. The record debuted at number 3 on US Billboard 200 chart.
Kelly Rowland deserves praise for taking a chance with this album. If you are into R&B this is a great buy, she has a great voice, this is a sexy CD! “Here I Am” is definitely a must have or at least a try! Kelly really introduces the more energetic, sexy (without overdoing it), spontaneous side of her with this album.

“Commander” is the first single from the album, it features and was produced by French DJ David Guetta, and was released from May 17, 2010 to iTunes stores around the world for digital download. In the United Kingdom, “Commander” topped the UK Dance Chart and became a top-ten hit on the UK Singles Chart, and Rowland’s best chart position since 2008.
International markets were then serviced with a second single, “Forever and a Day“, that was produced by Jonas Jeberg and co-produced by Guetta. It premiered via BBC Radio 1 on August 18, 2010 and was released from September 20, 2010. The single failed to match the success of “Commander”, reaching the top-fifty on the UK Singles Chart. It is not included on the final track listing, but may appear on international versions of the album.
After a failed attempt to launch the album with a pop single (”Rose Colored Glasses“) and a R&B single (”Grown Woman“) dual release, in February 2011 Rowland announced that the album would be rebooted with a brand new lead single for the US market.
“Motivation” featuring Lil Wayne was released on April 15, 2011 as the second single. It was produced by Jim Jonsin with a synth-saturated beat. It peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as peaking at number one on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. “Motivation” became Rowland’s highest charting single on the R&B format as a solo lead artist, and achieved the highest Hot 100 debut of her career. Ultimately it became Rowland’s highest charting single, and the only single from “Here I Am” thus far to chart on the Hot 100.
The album’s third single (second in the US) is titled “Lay It on Me“, it was produced by Hitboy and features rapper Big Sean. It was sent to US rhythmic radio on August 2, 2011. According to Billboard, the RedOne-produced “Down for Whatever” will serve as the album’s second single internationally.
