Geek Romeo - For The Love Of A Small Town lyrics

Lives and loves, and friends there in that

Lives and loves, and friends there in that

Lives and loves, and friends there in that small town

Day after day

Slipping away from the life

That I loved and I never realized

I've had my failures

I've had my victories too

Drinking my success like a cheap Bordeaux

And even now

I don't know how I

Ever let things get this far away

A boy can run, in childish fun but

A man's gotta stop and turn, and learn to make a stand one day

His generations should show him the way

Cuz' there's no knowing where you're going

Till you understand where you're coming from

And as the years go by you see with an understanding eye into the

Lives and loves, and friends there in that

Lives and loves, and friends there in that small town

Many, many years later

Walking down the city street

Chance encounter with an old friend from the old neighborhood

We caught each other's eye

We smiled in recognition, a warm embrace

And then he began to reminisce

He spoke to me, as if it all happened yesterday

The crazy things we used to do when we were kids

A swing and a miss on the field of dreams

To that first kiss with the prom night queen

We laughed together as he told me

How his memories had sustained him through the years

And as I stood there listening

I had a hard time holding back my tears

For I had simply forgotten those memories from my growing years

But as for him it was so clear how the man came from the boy came from the

Lives and loves, and friends there in that

Lives and loves, and friends there in that small town

Old friends that have come and gone

Some of them just drifted away

Some of them died well before their time was due

Some of them just got bad breaks

Some learned from their mistakes

And some always seem to get it right and breeze on through

Now and again

In a quiet moment I'll think of them

Their faces flash through my mind like the evening news

Summer days and small town ways, to big ideas and power plays

Grew up steady in a town that helped us learn to find our way

Some of us chose to leave

Some of us, well, we just chose to stay

You make your plan, you make a stand

You find yourself as best you can as we each would find our own way

From the best to the worst from the last to the first of the

Lives and loves, and friends there in that small town

The girl left behind

Her image a whisper

Melting its way back into my memory

You know she was my muse

You know she lit my fuse

And I took off, and I never once looked back

And even now

I don't know how I

Ever managed to get this far along without her

Her memories come back to me, her smile her style our history

Through good times and bad times

We helped each other make our way along

And so it goes between the poetry and prose

Our lives are like some kind of living song

And even though we're not together now

I've come to understand you've been with me all along

Through the laughing and the tears

And the mysteries and the cheers and the

Small town, small town, small town
