Warehouse As played by Dave Mattews Band on 'Under the Table and Dreaming' Transcribed at 10:06pm, September 29, 1997, by Cody Rahn. (Elaboration is welcome) \=slide up /=slide down H=hammer P=pulloff A really neat song. I like the quirky way the bass follows the guitar and yet still holds its character. It's fun to play, and (lucky me) only requires a 4-string. It's pretty much all in time and not too difficult, so without further delay... The bass enters the song during the intro when the horn, cymbals, and violin first play. During the intro, I hit the 7 and then rapidly but lightly tap with my 1st and 2nd fingers near the bridge to sustain the note. I've seen Stefan do this, so I'll be a copycat and do it, too :) ***** Intro ***** 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & G|-----------------------------------|-----------------------------------| D|-----------------------------------|-----------------------------------| A|-----------------------------------|-----------------------------------| E|---7-------------------------------|-----------------------------------| \__________________________________________________________________ 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & G|-----------------------------------|-----------------------------------| D|-----------------------------------|-----------------------------------| A|-----------------------------------|-----------------------------------| E|---7-------------------------------|-----------------------------------| __/ This is repeated three times. Pretty fun. Little addendum here. I saw DMB at the Gorge last July, and Stefan did a bitchin little slap solo thingie towards the end of this. It was when Dave does the little percussive vocal thing. The S's are for slap, and the P's are for pop. The lyrics on the second measure are written to match the beat that they are on so that the tab there makes a bit more sense.. 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------| D|-----------------------------------------------------------------------| A|-----------------------------------------------------------------------| E|-------3---------------------------------------------------------------| "So I'm going away... 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------| D|-----------------------------------7-------7---------------------------| A|-------------------5---7---------------------------------------3-h-5---| E|-------5-------5---------------5-------X-------5-------5---------------| S S P P S P S S "Like to, like to, to be" If slappin's your thing, it sounds cool to accent the song like that. I'll agree that Stefan is a conservative slapper, but he can do it like awesome when he does! Cody- ***************************************** "Could I have been Anyone Other than Me?"
