We pretend there's nothing wrong
To find shelter from reality
We've pretended for too long
Now we've lost our objectivity

Got T.V. sets to dull the senses
Captive to its false pretenses
Safe behind white-picket fences
But this life is just pretend

We lie to ourselves
Bury ourselves
Buried beneath all the lies we've contrived
We pretend to believe
In this 'self' we've achieved
While the truth we've avoided sinks deeper inside
