It used to be ideal

hanging round in fields

making all the crows turn chicken.

it used to be my goal

but now its getting cold

i'd rather make a proper living.



all the birds here know my face

they even know my name.

i'm giving up the scarecrow life

i'll find another game.

maybe a sailor or a superhero dude.

all i know is in this great big world

theres endless oppurtunities to try.



i know there are lots of possibilities but

at times it doesnt seem like it when your standing in a field

on your own.

let me tell you about it.

tied up to a pole

saving all the peas and carrots

but out in wind and rain

everydays the same

scaring off the hares and rabbits



and though i love this country life

and scaring crows is fun.

i'd love to take a holiday

and lay out in the sun.

you know maybe i should be happy where i am

not everybody can be a good scarecrow

most people are not even scary enough

and some people dont live near any crows

you know the more i think about it

i've got a really great life!

i've got great friends and a great job

and i'm gonna concentrate on being the best scarecrow i can be

the best on the world!!

i dont think its so bad when you have a simple job

where you get spend time outdoors

i think i feel sorry for nuclear physisists

they have to spend their whole day inside

looking at nuclears



i think a simple jobs a good thing for a simple guy like me

i could try and be the man who folds the milk cartons for a while

or i could watch paint dry

or maybe i could just be a scarecrow
