Keelor/J. Cuddy transcribed by Annie Lord meter: 4/4 key: F# minor tempo: approx. 132 bpm chords: F#mI--> xxx222 C#mI--> xxx999 BI --> xxx877 F#m --> 244222 C#m --> x46654 B --> x2444x D --> xx0232 A --> x02220 D7 --> x5453x C#7 --> x4342X I think the intro is actually played by two instruments, one playing the two alternating bottom notes and the other one playing the top ones, but I just tabbed it for one guitar. The intro has a half-time feel. Intro: riff 1: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + e|-------14-------12-------| B|----10-------10-------10-| Play this riff 12 times. Vocals and bass G|-11-------11-------11----| come in on the fifth bar. Another guitar D|-------------------------| strums F#mI on the first beat bar 5 and then A|-------------------------| on the first beat of every second bar after E|-------------------------| that until bar 11. let ring riff 2: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + e|-------------------------| B|-------14-------12-------| Play this riff twice. The other guitar G|----9--------9--------9--| strums C#mI on the first beat of the first D|-11-------11-------11----| bar of the riff. A|-------------------------| E|-------------------------| let ring riff 1 x2 (strum F#mI on 1st beat of 1st bar) riff 2 x2 ( " C#mI " " " " " " ) 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + e|-------------------------| B|-------12-------10-------| G|----8--------8--------8--| x2 D|-9--------9--------9-----| strum BI on 1st beat of 1st bar A|-------------------------| E|-------------------------| let ring 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + e|-------------------------|-----------------| B|-------10-------10-R-----|-----5-----5-R---| G|----11-------11----R-----|---6-----6---R---| x2 D|-12-------12-------R-----|-7-----7-----R---| A|-------------------------|-----------------| E|-------------------------|-----------------| let ring let ring 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + e|-------------------------|-------------------------| B|-------10-R--------5--R--|-------7--R--------10-R--| G|----11----R-----6-----R--|----8-----R-----11----R--| D|-12-------R--7--------R--|-9--------R--12-------R--| A|-------------------------|-------------------------| E|-------------------------|-------------------------| let ring let ring let ring let ring riff 1 x4 (strum F#mI on 1st beat of 1st bar) The rest of the band comes in at bar 31, after the intro. There are two guitars: one strumming chords (written with the lyrics below) and one playing riffs. The one playing the riffs use some kind of vibrato/tremolo effect. The bends are 1/4 tone in the first bar and 3/4 tone in the second bar. Verses: riff 3: F#m 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + e|-------------------------|-------------------------| B|-------------------------|-------------------------| G|-------------------------|-------------------------| D|-------------------------|-------------------------| A|-------------0--2--3q-2--|-------------2b(t)-2b(t)-| E|-2--------2--------------|-2-----2-----------------| In the first bar, bend the note on the fourth beat right when you pick it. In the second bar, play the B on the third beat and then bend 3/4 tone on the half beat; do the same on the fourth beat. riff 4: C#m 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + e|-------------------------|-------------------------| B|-------------------------|-------------------------| G|-------------------------|-------------------------| D|-------------2--4--5q-4--|-------------4b(t)-4b(t)-| A|-4--------4--------------|-4-----4-----------------| E|-------------------------|-------------------------| riff 5: B 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + e|-----------------|-----------------| B|-----------------|-----------------| G|-----4---2-------|-----4---2-------| D|-------------4---|-------------4---| A|-2---------------|-2---------------| E|-----------------|-----------------| riff 6: D A 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + e|-----------------|-----------------| B|-----------------|-----------------| G|-----7-5-----5---|-----------------| D|-----------7-----|-----7-5-----5---| A|-5---------------|-----------7-----| E|-----------------|-5---------------| riff 7: D A B D 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + e|-----------------|-----------------| B|-----------------|-----------------| G|-----------------|-----------------| D|-----------------|-----------------| A|-5-------7-------|---------5-------| E|-----------------|-7---------------| In verse 1, the riffs are played in this order (you can also just refer to the chords with the lyrics below -- the name of the chords are the same as the ones on top of the riffs): riff 3 x4 riff 4 x1 riff 3 x1 riff 4 x1 riff 5 x1 riff 6 x2 riff 7 x1 Guitar solo 1: During the first solo, the verse riffs are NOT played, but the other guitar continues to strum the chords (written above the tab). Intro: (start on bar 5) Someday soon I don't know when Your little world Will come crashing in Don't think twice I'll be around Turn your back Someone's gonna let you down You know that it's true Nobody led you on They left that to you Now you'll be alone When the sun comes up With your tattered little dreams And a broken cup Then you'll have to Trust yourself And don't believe in anymore lies Verse 1: F#m You waste your time Think too much Really make a mess Of the things you touch Poor little bird With a broken wing Better look around now C#m You know you're losing everything F#m It's just a game C#m Thought you had it all lined up B But somehow that's changed D Now you'll have to run A And not get caught D Now you'll have to hide A If you like it or not Then you'll have to D A Trust yourself B D F#m (guitar solo) And don't believe in anymore lies F#m x4 bars C#m x4 bars D7 x4 bars C#7 x2 bars F#m x2 bars F#m Someday soon It won't be long You'll ring a bell But they'll all be gone They took your jewels And your statues too Left you with a pile of things C#m You never learned how to use F#m Here it comes again C#m You showed us where it all began B Well here's where it ends D Now you'll be alone A When the sun comes up D With your tattered little dreams A And a broken cup Then you'll have to D A Trust yourself B D And don't believe in anymore D A Trust yourself B D And don't believe in anymore D A Trust yourself B D F#m (guitar solo) And don't believe in anymore lies yeah yeah yeah... F#m until the fade out Tab eplanation: b --> bend, to the note of the fret in parentheses r --> release bend == --> hold bend /,\ --> slide up, down q --> quarter tone bend b(t)--> 3/4 tone bend h --> hammer-on p --> pull-off (9) --> ghost note P.H.--> pinch harmonic R --> rest Notes: -The numbers above the tab represent the beats and half-beats. It's the best way I found to express rhythm in tab. -Each note is held until the next one, unless there in an R, which stands for rest, and then there should be silence until the next note. -I've tabbed out the solos, but this is really a jam tune, so improvisation is probably more appropriate than following the tab. The solos are based on the F minor pentatonic scale, so that can be used as a starting point.
