Biography for Florian & Santiago
The protagonists Florian & Santiago are none other than Jacques and Florian Sanchez, father and son. The first will work as a freelancer in photography, advertising and publishing. Music has been present since early childhood in this southerner who accompanies his harmonica with a guitar. It was the Bob Dylan and Hugues Aufray era. But it is the singer-songwriter Georges Brassens who will decide between the variety artists of the 60s and 70s. Jacques knows the repertoire of the poet from Sète well enough to perform it from 1995 onwards for a unique and precious audience. Thus, Florian will fall asleep every night to a sound more or less identical to the veteran. He is particularly fond of the song ‘Au bois de mon cœur’ because it reminds him of the Forêt de Soignes which he walks through every Sunday morning when the weather permits.
In turn, the audience discovered a new idol, the singer Renaud Sechan, known as “Renaud”, whom they immediately compared to the spiritual son of Georges Brassens. At the age of eight, Florian took piano lessons. To celebrate the end of the year, he will play the instrument at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. After higher education and in the same city, he will continue his training at the SAE.
From 2007 Jacques and Florian will lead three artists in Cuba. The natives find it difficult to articulate the name ‘Jacques’. The latter, not recognising himself in an uncertain “Raqués”, decided on Santiago. The name of the country’s second largest city reminds him of his Spanish origins.
The woman who could have devoted her entire life to music, whom Jacques called “Marylise” and Florian “Marraine”, is so present in their hearts that the duo dedicate a song to her memory. The profession encourages them. From then on, melodies and harmonies take over to overcome the painful absence of the missing person.
