Overcome is the debut album by the 2008 X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke.
Created with the help of perhaps the industries most in demand production houses (Roc Nation and Jay-Z, The Phantom Boyz, Red One, Stargate and The Freemasons) the album is a sonic manifestation of Alexandra’s ballsy personality, with the lady herself describing the collection as ‘a beast.
With a willfully mischievous glint in her eye, 21 year old Alexandra Burke is sitting on one of the hottest Pop debuts of the decade.
A cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” was Burke’s debut release as The X Factor winner’s single. The song reached number one on UK Singles Chart on Christmas.
“Bad Boys” is the lead single from Overcome, and the second single overall. Described as “21st century techno future-pop” by Burke’s website, it features American rapper Flo Rida. The song debuted at number-one on the UK Singles chart, becoming Burke’s third consecutive chart-topper, selling over 187,000 copies to become the fastest selling single of 2009 in the UK so far.
This album has got everything you would expect from a debut album and more! Alexandra has proven with this album she is not another diva releasing ballad after ballad… there are three ballads on this album all of which are very powerful. But the upbeat tracks such as ‘Broken Heels’ and ‘Good Night Good morning’ are ones to look out for.
