Here is my cover of this classic song with the "instantly recognizable" riffs.

When I say "my cover"; this is how *I* play it.  This is in a 3-piece band, so all guitar(s) parts AND keyboard parts are performed on guitar, which gives you quite a workout!

This is not the key that this song was recorded in (Foreigner recorded it a full step lower); this is how we play it in our group (we may have used this key for the singer).  The real beauty of this key is letting that A string ring open (tabbed as 0 here) to hold this melody line.

To get that drone G (which is a drone A in my version), you would have to tune your guitar a whole step, OR, tune your A to a G and play the intro as such:

Experiment..  double pick some of these chords!!  Play around and find what fits the group you?re playing it with.

Concentrate on the open A note, but occasionally add the ghost ?E? on the D string.  Experiment, you?ll see what I?m saying.

Now the above, at first, seems like the standard hammer on pull off, but listen closely!!  Each note is PICKED as well as ho/po!!!!  You may have to practice to get your coordination on this one?.
