Capo 2 in D (E), high-strung (pseudo-standard-tuned eadgBE) six-string acoustic,
moderate tempo in 4.

Derek actually plays this on a high-strung guitar. The third through sixth
strings (eadg) are the high strings from a set for a 12-string guitar, so they
are an octave higher than normal. This makes the third string (g) a higher
pitch than the first (E) and second (B), and the fourth (d) higher than the
second. This stringing gives a distinctive sound, especially since the
intervals between the 1st and 2nd strings and the other strings are inverted or
reduced by an octave. But the cool thing about it is that you can still play
the song the same way on a normal guitar, and it works, though it sounds a bit
different.

Sorry for all the different G chords. If you want to simplify, just plain
G works OK for any of these variations except the two with /A, which can be just
G/A. When moving from G to E7, hit the F# bass note (sixth string, second fret)
on the way down. The song alternates between picking and strumming with a wide
dynamic range, from pianisimo to forte. Strumming near the end, hammer-on the
first and third strings together on D and D/F# chords. Picking at the very end,
hammer-on and pull-off the first and third strings separately several times on
the final D.
