Summer is the time to chill out on the beach and party at the pool, but it’s also the season of tours, so you better go to the local amphitheater or arena to check out shows by the likes of Katy Perry, Lil Wayne, Foo Fighters, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears and My Morning Jacket. Blink-182, Foo Fighters and Avett Brothers are also expected to give their fans big jaunts so you just have to choose your favorite and find time to go and see them. But enough with the talk, let’s better see what are 2011 summer’s biggest U.S. tours.
Lady Gaga is not out on the road this summer, so our favorite girl who will attract us with her siren voice is no other than Katy Perry. The young singer has listen her fans’ demands and jumped from theater gigs to arena jaunts offering to those who come and see her, an eye-popping extravaganza that is “pulling out all the stops” as the senior writer for live-entertainment trade magazine Venues Today said, something like a Broadway show. Her new tour is more than entertaining. It’s colorful, joyful, a spectacle that reminds us of our childhood when we used to eat cotton-candy.
Experts also see big jaunts for Taylor Swift, who has endeared herself to the industry and to fans that range from teen girls to adult women through her professionalism, dedication and talent. She sold tickets like water and sometimes she had to add more shows to satisfy the demand. Blogger Perez Hilton predicted that Swift would have the most buzzed-about tour by summer’s end: “Just because she is performing so many shows, [playing] sold-out arenas, and to her credit, no one else that is a female artist is doing this right now … playing stadiums in America … that is major.”
Lil Wayne planned a hard tour for this summer as part of his never-ending I Am Still Music Tour and he has no competition because hardcore Jay-Z, Kanye West and T.I. are not hitting the road this summer.
britney spears and nicki minaj 2011 tour
Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj are also on the list, even if their tickets are not selling very well, the good seats being available days before a number of the dates for the two divas. But despite the lack of buzz, experts say that her fans are loyal and they won’t disappoint their diva.
According to Pollstar, U2’s massive 360 Tour, which is already expected to be the highest-grossing of all time when it wraps, will be the summer’s biggest gig, despite the fact that it will end in the middle of beach season on July 23.
As for dance-music stars like Tiësto, things couldn’t be hotter. Tiësto, Kaskade, Steve Aoki, Skrillex, DJ Shadow, Afrojack, Booka Shade and Nervo are all promising to offer the best entertainment environment ever for teenagers in particular. Let’s not forget the first-ever touring electronic festival Identity, where you will be able to party with your peers.
